Default Yamaha g2 roll cage build

Hey guys havent been on here much in the last couple years but just thought i would show some pictures of the new roll cage im putting on the g2. Ive been going through and redoing all the crap i messed up when i was 18 building this cart. Also put on some new 14s and long travel kit. The cage is more cosmetic but is still very strong.

Move it where? You are good here.

Nice work on the cage, I have considered doing the same.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if i had it in the right place. Cage came together very well. We added support angle behind the metal trim on the front cowl and tied it in at that point and the rocker panel also. I wanted to make sure not to cover the body or paint at all. also you can see the spreader bar in the front was also angled back to not cross the cowl. Yesterday I went to get a quote on a canvas top. 400-500$ , a little more than expected. I have also considered putting tabs on the inside of the cage frame and doing a complete dark smoke plexi (1/4") top cut to the the inside of the frame. I have access to a cnc so that is not an issue cutting it. I am more worried about sag from expansion and the heat from the sun. So still not decided there yet. Next week I am painting the frame. Degreasing/self etching primer and vht gloss roll bar paint.

Also I can not take credit for the welding. Good friend of mine bought a new pipe bender and need a new project so i gave him one haha.

Quite a bit for a top. If you knew someone that could sow, you might be able to make a bimini type top that attaches to the top cross bars. Just a thought.

Might even consider a piece of flat stainless or something and then add a cargo rack on top like some put on jeeps (it would be tall).

Right well they original told me snaps was the way to go and i told them there was no way i was drilling all those snaps in the frame. Se they brought up the idea of heavy duty velcro with marine sunbrella top. Which i really do like that idea. But there are not many canvas shops by me. My garage door is only a 7ft door so i would be cutting it close with a rack but i thought very hard about a low profile rack and piece of sintra or stainless on the roof. I used to work for an exhibit company and have a supplier that can order all sorts of materials i have never seen.

You'll want something that won't rattle all the time also. Of course you add the foam strip like what goes under a topper on truck.

Bimini type top would look really good. Measure out the material, have someone sow it where you could run a small rod through each side of the material and then secure the rods to the cross bars of the roll cage with velcro strips or even zip ties, whatever.

Search around on the forum. I know some the guys around here have made some of these tops. There's a lot of talent and good ideas on this site!

Just don't use a plastic tarp and duck tape on that nice cart.
