Default Yamaha G14 engine wanted

Unfortunately, I threw a rod on my Yamaha engine.
With that said, I can’t buy a refurbished one without a re-buildable core.
The serial # is JN3 300cm3. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

When my G14 needed a major rebuild I switched over to a Vegascarts 460. Parts such as the block the for a G14 are very hard to come by. Another option is the sticky for yamahas is one about switching the G2-14 engines in a cart.

Question? I have a rebuilt Kawasaki motor from my John Deere Gator 4x2. Do you think that, that engine will work?

You can make most any CCW engine work. It just the matter of size and how much fab work you are willing to do.

****UPDATE**** So I ended up finding a G2 engine. Everything went well on my first engine swap. It turns over and starts! The problem is that I’m only getting about half the power. I replaced the carb, fuel lines, fuel filters, air filter and battery. My question is, could it be the igniter? That harness as well as the stater harness did not match. As of right now, I am running a G14 igniter with a G2 engine.

Mktjensen, I wish I would have seen this before I got the G2! Thanks though!

I don't know if the G14 igniter would be compatible with the G2 engine. As far as I'm aware they're basically the same engine but 300cc vs. 285cc. I don't know if the timing curve is the same.

Have you adjusted the valves? What kind of compression does it have? OEM carb or aftermarket? Does pulling the choke half way make a difference?

CP241 no, I have not adjusted the valves. I’m not sure how to check the compression. I’m a newbie in the motor head world lol. The carb is OEM. The engine had no issues in the other cart it was in. As soon as I swapped it, that’s when it started to happen. When I pull the choke, it brings it back down, almost like a smooth idle.
