Wire for Radio.
Hello all,
Just trying to save me some time and searching. I would like to hook my radio to a wire that is controlled by key. It won't take much power so want to tap in to closest wire. Radio is currently hooked direct to battery under the seat. Unit is a 2017 Drive 2. Thanks in advance for the assist from the buggie gurus. John |

Re: Wire for Radio.
Use a relay if it takes any power. Not sure on drive but most other Yamaha have hot wire from battery to key, then key to the pedal switch and then start solenoid. So the wire to the pedal is one you want, it goes hot with key, unless the drive is different. Also note the frame is usually not a ground.

Re: Wire for Radio.
Sure. The carts like to use say a 10-15A fused wire to run the engine stuff, so if you add something it is easy to blow the fuse. Generally its not a good idea to use their wires and if something shorts/etc it will usually kill power that runs the cart. Just so you know. Otherwise you can run a relay and power it off the battery, those 30A square relay on most GM cars work great they used to be $4 or something. Then you fuse a wire off the battery to run your stuff and ground it back to battery. So you can run a small load off the factory wire just be aware it can be a problem.
