Considering purchase of Yamaha Drive
I have been in the market for a cart for a few months. I finally decided on a gas cart unless I find a steal on an electric cart I can’t pass up. I found a sharp looking 2016 Yamaha Drive. This one has a lot of the customized options I want so it would save some trouble.
Is there anything I should be specifically looking for when I go to look at it? Are there certain years of these carts I should avoid? I also saw a 2012 Drive for sale a good bit cheaper but it doesn’t have some of the extras I like on it. A side question, if all things are other things are equal, what is the value of having a 4 year newer cart since I’m looking at gas? Does it even matter? I have a buddy with a much older cart with almost the exact same engine as this one and he loves it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Considering purchase of Yamaha Drive
I know more about the electrics than gas for those carts, but the 2016 eliminates a very troublesome brake system they used from 2007-2015.

Re: Considering purchase of Yamaha Drive
Early Drive had issues with the CVT as well, though some were recalled I lost track. Otherwise a great cart. Far as year yes carts last longer than cars but I would still tell you if you go buy a car you look at the age right? Its still the same with carts and while a seller will not even tell you how old it is, it still matters because everything wears and ages. IMO a cart under 10yr old is much better than over, etc, though you buy what your budget can handle in the market you are in. Unless you want a particular model for certain reasons. Get the options you want if you can, often they don't increase value much and you save cost/labor to put them on. Just keep an eye on wear and how it was used, I mean trail ridden carts see a harder life than golf course ones. You will be happy to ride a shiny cart with clean looking seats and tight steering, all things you get with a nice newer cart on average that will be worth more down the road as well. But that's just my .02.
