Default Reprogram G29 Stock Controller

have a 2016 G29/Drive with stock controller ( Moric i believe its called) and engine.
A local golf cart shop informed me that they could do a plug and play stock controller reprogram and I would gain roughly 2mph from my cart.
This is not the standard PTV update through Yamaha and all

Anyone ever heard of this of performed it before.

Supposed to be a pretty simple plug and play reprogram that takes a few minutes and will add roughly 2mph.

That's true, considering how big your wheels are, if your controller is currently exactly as it left the factory. Can only be done by people who have the factory programming equipment (likely only the dealer). Should be very cheap, as it costs the dealer nothing more than 5 minutes labor. PTV speed code does cost the dealer money, and unlocks another speed column in the controller.

Do you see any potential harm in doing the simple plug and play reprogram? I’m willing to pay the $50 to gain 2mph. I just want to know it’s not going to hurt anything ( not anymore than the things I’ve already done atleast)

Nope, the stock controller is living on "hope & a prayer" for the use I see in your photo anyway. Can't do much bad to a man already on death row. Also, maybe start electric Yamaha cart questions in the "electric Yamaha" area, not "gas Yamaha" area. I'll be any help I can tho for "what should I do?".

not sure how i ended up in gas yamaha.
I do understand that golf carts with stock electronics are designed for golf course use and not have lift kit, tires, back seats, etc. However, i just have a hard time believing that if you put tires and wheels your cart is destined to self destruct in 48 hours.
Is the best option to replace controller, solenoid, 2G cables, motor, batteries, and seat covers to inevitably get another year out of it before it self destructs again?

Im just trying to keep cart running as my neighborhood cruiser but without spending 10K and worrying that at any minute it could fail.

I would just run it till it dies. Its rated at something like 245a, so stock cables & solenoid should be fine for now. Fortunately, when the controller dies, it doesn't take anything with it (but a failed motor can take the controller with it, so any "dead controller" replacement should include a motor inspection).

i plan to be proactive and buy an Alltrax 500 ealry next year, turn it down to 400a for time being and probably get a motor and batteries later in 2020.
When controller goes out, is it all of a sudden just BAM or does it slowly start to go out so you have a little time to prepare for it?

hell im nervous to run a 400amp controller now without replacing the motor as i dont want the motor to go out and burn up a controller so then i can spend an additional $600 on a second controller.

Will a 400amp controller on a cart used 100% for crusing around neighborhood truthfully cause sudden death to the motor?
