Starter/Geenerator Fan
First Time G1 owner (1980 G1-A1), picked it up at the local scrap yard for a very good price, she's a bit rough but runs (barely), but solution should be simple, vapor spraying out crank shaft seals, so crank seals are on order.
I'm having a hard time locating the fan that mounts on the starter/generator. Mine is missing 3/4 of a blade. Does anyone have a spare in their parts pile, or know which supplier carries them? Thanks, Rich C. |

Re: Starter/Geenerator Fan
I searched everywhere for a S/G fan and could not find one.I believe it is discontinued and although some sites list it, I dont think they have any in stock. There are a couple on flebay however, you have to buy the whole S/G. I welded an old Chevy alternator fan to a nut and mounted it on mine and It felt like it moved some air pretty well until I got the correct fan in a parts lot I bought.

Re: Starter/Geenerator Fan
Run it the way you got it. Missing one blade won't affect the cooling of the starter gen all that much. Yes it should be addressed, but you can run it the way it is for a while.
Post a thread in the parts section, someone has one. I know I do, but it has a starter/gen attached to it lol. I could sell you the whole thing if you want, but it's heavy to ship. You didn't say where you're located. |

Re: Starter/Geenerator Fan
Sometimes with discontinued, seldom requested items, you gotta ask to see if anyone has it available. A lot of time it is not worth the time to list items that might not move, but if you ask the right person they may check the unlisted stock shelves, other times they are in squirreled away secret locations. Luckily some people share their hidden items. Thanks again
