Default G16 starter and clutch spinning, engine is not

Hi, I’m new to the golf cart scene but I’m pretty mechanically inclined. I have a2000 Yamaha golf cart . The other day I was backing out of a driveway backwards in neutral. Not sure if I hit the gas before coming to a stop but something crunched and now the clutch spins but nothing in the motor is turning. I replaced the clutch a few months prior, didn’t know if it’s a clutch issue or if the shaft inside broke or the teeth broke. looking for some advice and guidance of which part to purchase to repair. Thanks!!

Also I did lots of searches but it kept leading me to starter issue but all belts are in tact and it’s spinning just fine so I’m not sure that is the issue

No real way to know without taking a look. It doesn't sound good. It could be multiple things. I wouldn't buy anything until you have a chance to take the clutches off to inspect. You stated the engine isn't turning? Not sure on that one.

Could be:

1. Secondary clutch damage
2. Transaxle input shaft damage
3. Axle shaft damage
4. Transaxle internal damage
5. Primary clutch damage?

You'll have to take it apart to inspect. You could take a video and post it, might help.

Iv tried to attach a video. Even trimmed it to 3 seconds but it won’t up load. I’ll disassemble the clutch this week and report back. Thanks

Remove your primary clutch, sounds like its just spinning on the crankshaft. It might not be tight enough? You could check the center bolt on the primary clutch and see if it's loose.

Sounds like the engine isn't running--just being turned by the starter. Does it rev up?

Did you check this? The bolt is the only thing fastening the clutch to the crank.
