I hear you. I've had to use a chisel and hammer. then it's real tough to get back in.....oh wait...I can just pull anotherone out of the parts bin! Sorry! Maybe without a sheave holder, the preloaded spring is "binding it". Good luck my freind. You'll get it done, Dave

Mine was a bit tough to get out also. Use a rachet strap to pull back the clutch to relieve the pressure. Just run the strap across the plate and around the Diff and then crank it down till the plate moves back. Then I took a small hammer and a flat tap or punch and tapped the key out. It is half moon shaped. I tapped it in one direction and then the other till it came out enough to remove easily with pliers.
You will need to use the strap trick to get everything back together again as well. Good luck.

Yep. The curved part of the semi-circle or half moon is in the shaft. So hit one side and the other end will start to pop out. I had a tough time getting it out also till I looked at the parts breakdown and saw that it was just a half moon shaped key sitting in a slot in the shaft.

Sabercat...It's called a woodruff key, but I really like "could hit it ithor side ahd it would rock out! If you can get the "pressure/preload" off the spring seat/spring and sliding sheave, it will be easier to get out. You'll get it done.
