Default 2000 Yamaha G16/A steering box snapping sound

Steering box at pitman arm has about 1/4 inch of in and out play.Tight cornering at very low speed produces a snapping sound. Fine at higher speeds. Is there an adjustment on the steering box to reduce that amount of play?

Welcome!!

On top of the box, loosen the jam nut and tighten the screw. Then re-tighten the jam nut.

With it popping, it may be damaged or dry (no grease around the gear area). I've actually remove the small bolt and pumped a little grease in mine before. Also, check your king pins to make sure they are not where the popping noise is coming from. Check the bushings on top and bottom of the kings. They should be greased. Either or both could be wore out. You may need to also jack the front end of the cart up, use jack stands, place one hand on top of the tire and another on the bottom, and rock up and down to see how much play.
