Default 97 G16 Cutting out at WOT

I have a 97 g16 in here for service. Customer just bought cart and has no history on cart. It is lifted and has 22" tires. reason for bringing it in, was not charging, voltage regulator fixed that.

I perf tune up like I always do and on test drive the cart cuts off or boggs out when gas is put to the floor hard. If you go real slow and go to the floor it will run but not pick up any speed. I have installed new NGK plug, ADJ valves, cleaned out carb, Installed new fuel filter. I found that the throttle linkage does open the carb all the way like it should, but to see if anything would change, I loosened up the gov so it is right before WOT. Nothing changed. Hot or cold makes no diff on eng. Is there anything else I should try or look at?? Thanks for any help. You guys have saved me lots of headache on these things.

Sounds like an air/fuel mixture problem to me. Since you have pretty much ruled out fuel, check the spacer between the carb. and intake for leaks. I would still double check the float in the carb. as well. Question: have the fuel lines been changed on this cart. Yamaha's are very particular about their fuel lines (5/16 and 1/4). Check the spark plug after you run it for while (floorboard it several times) and see if the plug is wet with fuel. Is it dumping fuel back into the air box with oil mixed in with it? You might also want to make sure the muffler isn't stopped up. Check to see if it is getting extra hot. These are just ideas ruling out carb. and tune up items since you stated you already took care of this.

The plug is wet. I have installed a new hotter plug and still same results. I have since remove the carba gain and checked the float. it is ok. I am thinking after driving it a little it sounds/feels to me that th ecarb is opening up all the way and flooding it, If i play with the gas pedal I can get it to catch up with itself.

I can run the eng (rear wheels off grnd) and give it gas at throttle and it just pours black smoke out the exhaust and smell like gas. It is deff runing rich. I am thinking the carb is junk, but just wavering my other options.

Definitely running way too rich and dumping too much fuel if the plug is wet. You could try tearing down the carb. Float may be bad or some trash somewhere causing a problem. Or...........may just have to replace the carb. It does have the factory fuel lines right??

Yes factory fuel lines. customer took cart to try it out for the weekend. he said he will let me know. He thought it was normal that slapping the throttle to the floor will make it bog. I want to swap carbs, but I do not have another cart here like that.

It will be back, I ordered him a rear seat for it so I will get it back in about 10 days, he is leaving for a business meeting monday afternoon, and does not trust his wife to haul it on a trailer.
