G16 Carb
On my 97 G16 I have to use the choke way to often from stop to go. If the cart sits for more then 1/2 hour or so I need a quick pull on the choke to get it going. Once going it is fine. I also need to choke to get going if I have a heavy load. I am assuming I need to clean my carb. I am handy but by no means a mechanic. Is this a fairly simple job that I should try to tackle? or should I pay someone to do it? Also, if I do it what parts should be replaced if any while the carb is off? Thanks for your help!

Re: G16 Carb
So, out of curiosity, what are we looking at if you do "break the castings that the float pin slides thru"???

Re: G16 Carb
Check to make sure there are no cracks in the airbox or carb intake. Also check gaskets. Not common on g-16 but sounds like cart is getting to much air.

the little pin can be pushed out with a pair of medium channel lock pliers using restraint. and then pulling with a pair of vice grips, note the orientation or take diggi pics as you go to help reassembly. |

Most G16's are cold collared too. At least the one's that I have had. I've always had to pull the choke on mine after it sits. Although, you shouldn't have to pull it while your driving. If your pulling things, I would consider a spring/spacer torque kit for this cart. It is only around $45 and well worth it if your cart is lifted and your running at least 20 inch tires. You'll get a little better take off response as well with this kit. We have instructions here on how to install as well. |
