Default g2 that just quits

I'm new to the golf cart world. I have a 1986 g2 that runs fine untill it warms up and then starts to back fire, losses all power and then quits. took the carb off and cleaned it. Checked float, needle and seat, all looked fine.

I have pretty much the same story. just got a G8, it would run pretty good, for about a half hour, then I would shut it off,and it would not start again(heat soak?). I called around, and parts houses told me it was probably the electronic ignition, what ever they call it, TCI or something like that. $135.00 later it runs so I'll find out if that was it this weekend. Good luck, if you go to a yamaha dealer, take the coil with you, and have them test it.

Is the coil the same thing as a TCI? Have been reading about rejetting also. how much larger do you go to run a K&N type filter?

Ok, so bear with me here. Is the igniter different than the coil? I guess I need to get some kind of service manual.

For what I understand, it's hard to test the ignitor. They told me that it was most likely my problem. This is Sat. night and my cart has been running perfect since Thurs. so I believe I have solved my problem.

I had this problem one time with my G9 and couldn't figure out the problem for anything. It was very intermitent. I ended up taking apart and cleaning every single terminal on the solenoid, ignition module, coil, starter/gen, etc... Still had the problem after a while. So, I bought me some electrical wire at the local auto parts and made up a new wiring harness. Never ever had the problem again.
