'89 G2 backfire
Whats happenin' guys! Been a while since i've been on here. '89 yammy G2 been running fine until yesterday. Now "cuts out" when on the gas, then backfires when you let off. Loss of power because of the "cutting out." Air/vaccum leak? Spark plug fouled? Let me know. Thanks!

Re: '89 G2 backfire
Don't know. Not in the last year, since i have owned it. What do u think is causing the backfire? Plug or air leak? and the "cutting out" ? My symptoms happen in this order: Choke to get started, then gas pedal pushed, misses when going down the road, then loud backfire when you let off the gas. Hmmmmmm..... Thanks! Let me know.

Re: '89 G2 backfire
My G9 had similar issues when I first got it - new plug & air filter helped with bogging down - backfire was caused by sticky accelerator cable - backfire came back last summer - I'm pretty sure I had an overheat problem from the dirt roads around here - the starter solenoid quit & I'm just getting it back running

Re: '89 G2 backfire
Thinking back, it was the carburetor cable that was sticking that was causing the backfire the carb would be wide open when you released the gas

Re: '89 G2 backfire
Backfires are usually due to the throttle on the carb. not closing all the way when you let off the pedal. Check your cable adjustment at the carb. and make sure the return spring for the throttle is working properly: pulling the throttle all the way closed.
