Default Question on G1- Slow to turn over and run sometimes???

I have an 82 G1 that has run well. Lately when I step on the gas to go I sometimes hear a click but the engine does not begin to turn over until after a long pause, sometimes it fails to fire at all. It does well until it gets warmed up, then starts to do this. Any tips on what to check?? Thanks for any help- Mike

Sounds like a solenoid may be going out or just a simple connection problem. I'd start by cleaning all connections to the solenoids over the rear passenger fender all the way to the battery. You can swap the solenoids around also if you think one may be bad.

Thank you. I will check the connections. It seemed to work fine in both forward and reverse for a while, then got worse as the morning progressed and was not working on either. Several pushes of the gas pedal would get it to fire, finally after several clicks. If it is a bad solenoid where would you get one and is it pricey?? Mike

Mine did the sam thing. I replaces the solenoids and all the battey cable from the battery to the starter. It fires right up now with no problem.

I had a G1 that the brushes were well worn in the starter generator.....slow to turn over.....sometimes I would have to hit the pedal a couple of times, sometimes...roll the engine over by hand until it hit the sweet spot....then it would crank right up.
Just a thought
