Water in oil?
Got one cart that has oil that looks like a chocolate Yahoo drink. I thought at first water from rinsing the engine compartment got in, so stopped all rinsing. Drained two times since then, refilled and two-three days later it starts turning back the same color. 95 Yamaha gas cart. Thoughts?

Re: Water in oil?
Rain water maybe? Running through a lot of water/mud? Check your crankcase hoses and ventilation system. You have to be getting water in there somehow. I assume this is a stock air-cooled engine?

Re: Water in oil?
That's a very strange thing....Since there should be no source of water, I would tend to think it could be rust. If the cart sat out for a long time it could have had condensation or rain cause the rust. Water will usually seperate and clean oil will go to the top. That's all I can think of.....

Re: Water in oil?
Is a standard used course cart, no modifications, original engine. Not running through streams or even big puddles. Used mostly to drag baseball infields hence the need to rinse off the orange dust occasionally. Sits idle about three days a week. Will check all other compartments and hoses as suggested. If rust, any additives to the oil recommended or just keep changing more often?

Re: Water in oil?
hoag are you changing the oil when the engine is hot? I know it hurts but if you are trying to clean it out it has to be real hot. When I have to clean an engine I buy cheap bulk and refill start it up for a few minutes drain again and replace with good oil. Good luck.

Re: Water in oil?
Any chance it is not water, but just orange dirt/dust? maybe your air filter is letting it in check to make sure it is sealed good. just a thought since it keep coming back with not water rinse.
