Default Sluggish Performance 1984 Yamaha G1

Does anyone know why my 1984 Yamaha G1 golf car skips, is sluggish, starts hard and has very low power? I have changed the carburetor, changed the spark plug and wire, checked the fuel filter, installed a new battery and have checked all of the obvious things. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked the compression.? A tester is $20-30. Not sure what it should be, but I am thinking around 100 psi.

For a 84 G1 compression (at WOT) should be 120lbs (new) and minimum 100 lbs. Does it help if you choke it? Could be crank seals. Just a side note, Just last week, a customer brought one in, no power he said, and its so slow! Found out an aftermarket accelrator cable was installed and didn't have enough "throw" to open the carb all the way. Installed a new stock cable and turned up the govenor alittle. He came back this week and thanked me, I said why....He said....it's never ran better and now I can beat my buddies Ezgo! Sometimes the easiest things are really whats wrong. Good luck on your fix.
