Default G9 secondary (driven) clutch?

New to the site and new to the golf cart game. I just installed a power kit in the secondary (heavy spring and splined spacer). The install went fine. My question is- can I remove the plastic washer thats sandwiched in between the two sheaves? Will that allow the sheaves to set closer together? My belt measures 1 3/16" width. I would just like the belt to set a little higher. Thanks in advance, Mark

No, do not remove this spacer. Its a bushing to keep the sheaves from binding. I think dock98 had that bushing wear out and the rear driven came apart from the 2 seaves binding. ps your belt is a good width. and welcome to bgw!

I ran mine with machined sheaves and no plastic bushing and never had a problem with any binding. I'm not saying sabercat isn't right, I just didn't have that problem with mine.

Sabercat and yamahag9er, thanks for the replies. I ended up going to plowmans and picking up their cut sheave. They also said to throw out the nylon washer. The belt sits nice and high now. Works very well.

It says to remove and discard the plastic washer in the CPP instructions.

really? i didn't no you could remove that without the sheaves binding. So that made the belt ride up higher to give more low end?

That will give you a touch more by letting the sheaves get a little bit closer together especially if they are machined.
