Smile G1 Seats???

What have all the G1 Lovers done about Seats?
We tore the whole cart down today, Joshua's going to totaly redo it for the camp.
But when we took the seats off, sevral of the bolts broke off. I know we can fix this but I have seen other options...
Got any pictures and or suggestions?

Yamaha original replacement bucket seats are so expensive. I recommend going to a boat store or like Cabella's and buy the ones that fit a boat. Look at "The New Guy's" Geep 1 project. Or you could have them recovered.

Boat seats come in many sizes, styles, and colors. They will also stand up to the weather. My avatar pic has boat seats installed.

OK, so I have been accused of being anal retentive.
But i just know what I want to do, and then find a way to do it!

So... I knew that I wanted to some how keep the original seats but i could not find anyone to recover them.
A week ago I was at Tyler Foam Products picking up some foam that I had cut for my mothers couch and while I was there I just happened to have one of the seats with me and there was an upholstry man there.
So I asked him about it and sure enough... he didn't want to do it! But then the ladies that worked there said "We can cut the foam to fit the seat frame and we sell the boat seat vinal, so one week later and...

(please see the pictures to see the process of taking the seats apart and inserting the new foam.)
(not to bad considering they did not take the seats apart and just measured the frame.) G1 Seats.jpg
Starting to remove the trim,G1 Seats (2).jpg G1 Seats (3).jpgG1 Seats (4).jpg
I don't think the foam was glued to the housing, but it was sur stuck pertty good after nearly 30 years.G1 Seats (5).jpg
See next post for more pictures...

We still need to sand and paint the seat frames, then glue the material on the foam but thats no big deal, but for less than 65.00 we will have like new seats!
Yeah Me!!!
