Default G8 Hot starter wire

1991 G8. The short red wire running from the end to the side of the starter/generator is getting hot to point the plastic insulation is melting. The cart has been slow to start. Cable in question looks good on both ends solid connection no breaks.

You could have a short, dirty connections, or bad connections. Try cleaning all your connections first, from the starter/generator all the way to the battery.
