Default Help me wire a G14 Engine into a G2 Cart

I have a 91 G2 cart. I bought it with the engine out of it in pieces. I thought it would be easy enough to find a replacement.

After not being able to find a replacement and determining that the original was not rebuildable, I started looking for other options. According to the sticky at the top of the page, I expanded my options. I found a G14 and picked it up today. So here's where I need the help.

It appears to me that I need to swap the ignition coil and the Pickup Coil from the G2 engine and place on the G14 engine so that the ends will match and connect to the G2 harness. Do I need to connect the low oil wire? Anything else I am missing to make this work?

I will try and take pictures in the morning if I am not making this clear enough.

Thanks in advance for help.

The low oil wire won't matter. Most end up breaking off in time anyway. Mine is disconnected on my G2. If everything is still good on the G2, I'd just swap everything electrical from the G2 over to the G14 engine. Keep us posted on progress.

Thanks Spriddle.

Is there a trick to removing the flywheel? Anything I need to be concerned about when I remove the old coil or swap it out?

The ignition coil looks pretty straight forward.

Everything should be pretty much straight forward. I don't think you'll have to rig up anything. May a be little time consuming. My old G9, I made up an entire new wiring harness a few years back. Took me a while but I swear that thing ran a lot better when I was finished. I just bought a lot of different colored wire from Walmart. Can't even remember what guage but I do remember it was little larger. You may not have to do this if yours is still intack, but I thought I would mention it.

Should be two or three 5mm threaded holes on the flywheel around the crankshaft and nut.
Need to get you a steering wheel puller kit and use that to remove it.
I know of many who say just pry it and tap the crank but you run the risk of breaking it.

They do break easy don't they.

Luckily I tried to take the old one off 1st. Is there an easy way to keep the flywheel from turning while removing the large nut?

Ok, So now everything is off the old G2 engine. I am going to be a lot more careful taking apart the G14 so I can connect everything back together.

Nothing like screwing something up to help you learn.

Anybody have a G2 flywheel or rotor they don't need? The one I broke is the one I needed to use.
