if you put on a higher flow air filter (k+n/uni) you need to rejet the carb, (more fuel) and to get the full results of the increased intake air flow, a higher flow exaust system is needed, (or the original moded)

So no you can't just drop in a after market filter without doing any thing else.

When I was running the stock engine, I cut a window in the muffler and removed some baffles and installed a larger diameter tail pipe. Then drilled open the main carb jet to .042-.046" and put a universal K&N air filter on the carb. The engine ran great, sounded good and the cart ran about 30-32 mph on 22" tires with no gov. These are the best pics I can find. Hope this helps!

If I remember right, the ID was 15/16 or 1" on the pipe. Yep, is was hi temp manifold paint.

got the exhaust baffles cut out tonight and going to weld my pipe on tomorrow. drilled out main jet 5 thousands over size and getting a uni tomorrow. i put the oversize jet in the carb and removed the air filter box. the cart did not want to run with out the stock air filter. only if i gave it a lot of gas then it would fire. i probably need to get some sort of air filter on there before it will run properly so we will find out tomorrow when i put exhaust and air filter on. was wondering how you plugged the tube that comes off the ohv and goes to the stock air box. any other tips you can throw me would be great thanx you have been a big help man.

Run the vent hose on the valve cover down and point it at the ground. You may have a drip of oil now and then. Yeah, you will need all of the new piece on then start adjusting. You may even need to open the jet more you will have to dial it in.

i got my air filter and exhaust on today runs a lot better. i removed the four baffles from the inside of muffler piped with 3/4 and put a uni on. doesnt seem like its getting enough fuel down low. when i hit the gas nothing pop the choke a couple times and it comes to life. up high it doesn't need any extra fuel but down low it seems to. was wondering if i had to drill mid range jet on the side of the stem that drops into the bowl? or maybe mess with the air screw on top of the carb ? i appreciate all the help you have been giving me thanks a lot.
