Default G8 drive belt

I believe it's time for a new belt, as mine measures 1 1/8" and don't know how old it is. I have a stock (9 hp) 6" lift with 23" tires and wondering if a Plowmans belt is a better application (carbon fiber and stronger) than stock Yamaha?

I doubt the belt is going to change much, but I don't really know never used one. Stock belt should be 1 3/16 new. 1" is time to change it on a stock cart, but by then a lifted car will shift very poorly. If you have not, make sure the engine mounts are good and if it has a tension cable that is good. If the engine pulls towards the trans under heavy load like a hill, you lose your pulling power. Make sure clutches are clean and lubed they shift better. Shimming/replacing the spring would make much more difference than a belt material IMO, for example, or a machined sheave.

want more torque? clutch maintenence like sho said, espesally the eng. ten. bracket, if its mising cluthches come out of line when accelerating. and then you can get the torqe spring from ccp, best torque upgrade period.

Car is a frame-up rebuild, I'll post pictures when I learn how. Motor mounts, new, clutches, new, tension cable, made one out of a1/4" bolt, with a few thousands clearance on the lock nuts. Car runs very good, but only 25 mph with 23" carlisle 489's that only measure 21 1/2" high! Read here that a new belt some times wakes up a cart for a little more over-all performance. Also the belt has been on for who knows how long, and don't want to stranded because of a broken belt. Need one for a back-up anyway!
