Default Gas coming out exhaust

I have a 1982 G1 Yamaha that I recently picked up. I put the carb back on and all new fuel lines. I starts up and will run. It will not run that fast, so I took off the exhaust and was going to clean it out so I decide to start it and see if it ran a little better and notice gas spitting out the exhaust. Any ideas why it would do that?

Hi DOdge Ram, I have 2 G1's and they both do that, guess its because their 2 strokes and eventually we all have to have a BBQ party for their mufflers. Even my chain saws and weed eaters drip raw fuel out there mufflers guess because their all 2 stroke engines also. So I imagine all that is normal maybe I am wrong and I am sure someone with more experience with 2 stroke will let you know.

Yeh, right Calvin. Like you don't know your 2 cycles I can think of 3 things. 1st-float is not set correctly and to much fuel is getting into the cylinder and not all being burnt/ 2nd-a whole in one of the fuel pump diaphrams and gas is filling up the crankcase and has no were else to go. 3rd-wore rings and cylinder? Good luck Dave

SmallBlock I knew someone would come in here and let him know more than I do thanks man I should of told him that also. I remember one time you told me to check my float because I had fuel running out the little pipe on the side of my carb. Bent the tang a little and no longer any leakage. Thanks man sure glad there are some really knowledgeable Yammi guys in here. Guess that is what I get for being a old goat.

If it has not been messed with it is a malfuction in the carb. I always clean and check the the carb and float setting when a fussy runing unit comes in. It takes 45 mins and told me if it was worse. When I was in business I would charge $35 and then talk to the owner if they wanted to go more.

More than you wanted to know.

ALWAYS LOOK TO THE CARB FIRST
