Question G1 exhaust

What is the best way to mod. a G1 exhaust ? I know about the BQ. trick. Can you open a stock exhaust up or is it better to add a atv or bike exhaust?

g1 is a 2 stroke 2 strokes need more back pressure to make more power so you do not want to open it up, you want to close it off/restrict it. as for jetting after the exhaust mods, i don't know.

You can run a Yamaha Bravo snowmobile pipe with minor mods, you need to lengthen the intake side of the pipe and rotate the outlet away from the swing arm bushing and you won't be sneaking around the neighborhood anymore. It can't hurt to do the muffler BBQ and if its never been done it should help your performance.

The best performance I have found is the Banshee pipe but you need to play with your driving clutch to get the motor to spin up and stay on the pipe. With all of the pipes I have tried you will need to do some cutting and welding.

Plowmans carts sells a performance pipe for the G1 but I have no personal experience with that pipe. I think he's one of the sponsors on this site.

I was gonna take the stock muffler apart and maybe open up the baffles a little. I was also thinking about installing a dirt bike expansion chamber but I think it might lose low end torque. Anyway, i would like to know what is a good way to get a little bit more power without having to mess with the clutch. The problem is that the stock clutch grabs at like 1000 rpms or less so a pipe is not going to help unless its like 10 feet long. You have to tune a 2 stroke pipe by changing the length/size of the pipes based on the RPM you want power.

When you install the banshee pipe, what is the approximate length of the primary and what is the lowest RPM that you can get the power band?
