Default G16 will not run.

It has been running fine and today I went to start it and I pulled the choke and it sputtered one tim and died so I started to check fuel and fire.

The tack shows 540 rpm when starting so I am getting spark. I also changed the plug and when I had it out I checked and had a good spark.

I took the fuel pump off and cleaned it and there was a little gunk in it cleaned it all up. I hooked it up and tried to start and gas was flowing out the pump. It was pulsing about 2" out the pump. I took the carb off and sprayed it out with cleaner everything looked good. Put it all back on and it still does the same thing. If i spray starter fluid in it will start and run for a few seconds.

How much gas should the pump flow?

What to check now?

BTW I had to get a new battery as the old one would only try to start for a few min and die.

from what I have seen working on a G16 (helping the guy get mine running before I bought it from him). Sounds like the fuel pump is working fine. Any more than that not sure. But the fuel pump is pumpng harder than mine and it is running good. Good luck I will be watching this thread to see what fixed it.

Did you take the jets out of the carb and clean them with a wire? If you had debris in the pump, make sure the carb is very clean and install a new fuel filter.

Cable is OK
Took the carb off and cleaned it out good
Compression is 160lbs with the carb off
Replaced the Fuel Filter

Still will not run...
If I spray starter fluid it will run for a few seconds.

Any other words of wisdom?

HELP

Might try this, There are 3 lines to the fuel pump, 1-from the tank, 1-to the carb,1- pulsar line to the engine. Take the pulsar line off and try blowing back into the engine. Do you feel any resistance? Could have partially plugged with "water/oil" gunk, and can't drive the fuel pump. Like I said something to try.

I am pumping fuel.
I took the fuel pump apart and there was a little gunk in it. Cleaned it all out. If I take the line off the carb and turn the engine over fuel comes out the line.

Any other ideas?

Is the spark plug wet after you crank it over? if not has to be the carb.

It is not..

The spacer looks fine. The gaskets between the spacer and carp and head look ok The one between the carb and intake is iffy.

I took out the main jet, main nozzle, and Pilot jet and made sure they were clean. I made sure the float worked right..... what else to check?

I am not a mechanic but I can turn a wrench.
