Default G16A Maintenance Tips?

Hi all!

I am new to carts and am doing preventative maintenance on a Yamaha G16A and could use the expert advice of this forum

Here is what I am planning to do:
  • Change engine oil.
  • Change differential oil, but need help on the weight of oil to use.
  • Lube chassis, but need advice on all of the lube locations.
  • Is there anything else that I should do?

Thank you for all of the help.

G16a full service. Spark plug (ngk-bpr2es)/air filter/pre filter/fuel filter/1 qt of oil (multigrade). Take battery connections off and clean to "bright" lead. We also take the battery out and clean the battery tray and paint it (stops from rusting out). Jack up the front end and check for king pin play and spin the tires for wheel bearing noise. Now for the clutchs, remove the drive belt, remove bolts and cap off primary (engine clutch) and inspect rollers for flat spots, Put zerk fitting at 12 oclock and shoot 1 maybe 2 shots of grease, rotatle clutch so zerk is at 6 oclock, wipe out any grease that has excited the weep hole, reinstall cap and belt. the sendary clutch has a zerk fitting on the inner side of the floating flange. You can get to it from the engine side, but if you take the "asscess/service" panel off it's a much easier job, 1 to 3 shhots of grease should do. Take the brake drums off, blow the dust out, inspect the linings, rough up linings with 80/90 grit sandpaper, do the ssame with the drums, blow out again and reinstall drums. Take your floor mat and fold to the passsanger side, take out metal acess cover, blow or wash out all the debrie from the pedal area, wd-40 all pivot parts. If brake pedal goes to the floor, loosen the jam nut on the threaded rod and adjust the "acsentric nut" till pedal locks on the first "catch" or what you like. The rear end lube is 80/90 weight, take the rubber filler cap off , gear lube level should be right to the "lip", if lube looks good, why change it?, if not, you'll need to take the metal cover off to drain it and reseal with RTV. Hope that helped.

I would stick my finger in it, look to see if it was "milky" like water contaminated. If it was greenish and had that "fishy" gear lube smell, and was at the correct level, OK.
