Default straight pipe exhaust

i have a g2 and i was wondering if it would hurt the motor if i put straight pipe exhaust or even dual straight pipe exhaust on my cart. if it wont do anything to the motor what size pipe should i use?

it won't do anything good for power and could possibly hurt your engine if you don't rejet the carb to match your leaner straight pipe.
and if your going stright pipe you might as well go for a higher flow airfilter and then re jet and that will wake the motor up a bit.

Striaght pipe will DECREASE your performance, INCREASE the anger from your neighbors for the extra noise...

LOL i just left a sled site and there is a rant going on about loud pipes save lives(lose trails).
I am 67 and my ears are shot from loud pipes, eh and what you say are my stand by words all day.

There is no real benefit from looser exaust unless you're turning some serious rpms which is not good for these engines unless they are gone through and balanced and beefed up a bit. In other words stick with stock, Find HP elsewhere.

Maybe he just wants to make noise? and has no neighbors? I say it will not hurt the 4 stroke near as much as it will hurt your hearing

it will help if you rejet, i did this to my g9 k&N filter, 152 main and straight pipe. ran real good. BUT really LOUD. not appreciated by wife or anyone else who had to drive it.

One Yamaha mechanic told me that some of the G1 years needed backpressure in the exhaust to run properly and some models, I think it was the '82, had a butterfly value between the exhaust port and the muffler to create this backpressure.

2 smokers need the backpressure to run correctly. I wouldnt do it.

Yeah loud exhaust is why I have a ringing in my ears today.And I guess standing next to top fuel dragsters when I was a kid.
