G8 Questions!! get them all into one post!
So here we go Rebuilt carb and the cart fires up but you have to keep the choke open a little over a 1/4 and it runs smooth it has a foam filter and no air box didnt come with one is it ok to run like this or is there something I can do to fix it?
Also I have a clicking noise at high RPM It sounds like the its coming from the primary drive are these things known for that? only at high rpms such as when your driving down a grade and the motor starts to over speed. What is top speed on these things and where is the GOV? Im sure Ill have more but this should get me up and running Thanks in advance! |

You'll either need to get an airbox for the factory type air filter or an oversize jet for a cone aftermarket filter.
Check the gear selector to make sure your cables are not seizing up a little or the selector is out of adjustment. The noise could possibly be that it is not going all the way into gear. G8 tuned properly with the governor bypassed should run around 25 mph give or take. |

Thanks Spriddle I sold my G1 and bought a G8 whole different can of worms could any of the choke symptons be due to air leaks in fuel line or bad pump? also is the Idle jet the only adjustment on the carb?

Here's a link to some jets: http://www.cartpartsplus.com/perform...24d1467404aac6 You can also check with any of our sponsors.
Yamaha's a very picky about the sealed air boxes with factory air filters. You can check the fuel line coming off the back of the engine. But if your missing the air box, that is the problem. With a k&n type air filter or not air box, you have to compensate to the different air/fuel mixture and ad more fuel (bigger jet). |

My stock G8 with the governor by-passed will run 25 mph with 23" tires that only measure 21 1/2" high! But I purposly only have the throttle opening about 80%, there abouts, to act as a rev control. Not looking to replace a motor for a while.

25 mph on a stock G8 is good. That is about what my G9 runs with the governor completely bypassed. They are good carts.
