Default Tune Up Kits G22?

Why do most of the tune up kits for the G22 come with hotter spark plugs?

If I am running the normal plug with no problems should I run a hotter one?

I think it is an epa thing, if you are running a tan plug stay with the colder plug. If your your plugs are black run the hotter one.

Ya from what I thought once you go hotter you shouldn't go back to colder. So I see no reason to change something if it's fine the way it is.

I just don't understand why everyone sells the kits with hotter plugs.

It actually depends on the engine setup. On other engines I've worked with I will use a hotter plug for a rich condition and a colder plug for a lean condition. It seems to make the plugs last longer. A lean carb will run hotter than a rich one therefore you don't need a hot plug.

Nothing keeps you from changing back and forth. On very finely tuned race engines the plug heat range is a tuning tool used when advancing into the later rounds and the engines can't be cooled all the way. And as I say the hotter plug is probably to reduce emissions.

You can pick these plugs up at just about any local auto parts store. Try running the iridium substitute. Little expensive but great plugs. I used to run them in my Rhino. Made a little noticeable difference in load situations.

Ya I know you and get them localy. I just wanted to get the kit since it comes out cheaper. Then I noticed all of them come with the hotter plug.

Not a issue, just bringing it to peoples attention really. Thought it was wierd.
