clutch greasing
im new so this might sound stupid. how do i lube the clutch? what kind of engine oil do i use and how do i change the diff/rear axle fluid and what kind to use syn-10w30???????????? on all??????/

I'm assuming you have the G14 in your signature.
The clutches have grease zerks on them. The drive clutch has it right next to the inside of the moving sheave on the outer edge. The driven clutch has it on the inside of the sliding sheave. It should say on the oil fill cap what kind of oil is recommended. I always use synthetic, but the choice is yours. The drain plug is 17mm and it's on the bottom of the engine. The engine holds 1 quart. NO MORE!! The transaxle holds 0.85 quarts. For the rear end, you will need to remove the cover to drain the oil. Clean both the surface of the plate and the housing with a gasket remover and apply a new gasket. Make sure no oil is on either surface, and replace the cover. Since your rear rear end is tilted a little bit in the front, jack up the back of the cart until the cover is perpendicular to your floor. Fill it back up with synthetic gear oil until it comes out the hole in which the Dana plug resides. Yamaha calls for SAE90 gear oil. I use that with about 5 ounces of Lucas Automatic Transmission Stop-Slip. There is really no slipping to be done within the transaxle, but it does make the oil adhere to all the parts that don't get it unless there is movement. |

For the oil change, I say at LEAST twice per year. Grease once a month. Only ONE pump unless you want a mess straight out of he11.
You should probably do a complete tune up. The G14 is a somewhat uncommon model, so you will need an air filter, spark plug, fuel filter, and air pre filter (rather than a tune up kit). If you do have a G14 "I'm sorry to say your job is more difficult, because the greasing procedure is harder due to your gas tank location.......To "grease" the primary clutch you should take off the drive belt, then the screws that hold the "gold" colored cap off the primary. Put the "zerk grease fitting" at 12 o'clock and shoot 1 or 2 pumps from your grease gun. Move the clutch floating flange in and out and then back towards the engine. Rotate the "zerk" so that it is at 6 o'clock and wipe out any exess grease (this is a "dry" clutch) only grease on the bushings in the floating flange). (I'm shure there are many out there that have had to rebuild the primary weights because of overgreasing). Your secondary clutch "should" have a "zerk" fitting on the inner portion of the sliding sheave. Just a few shots from the grease gun will work fine. If you hear a "Growling noise" or you feal a "vibration in the seat of your butt" then you have a bad bushing in the secondary floating flange or "the circlip that holds the spring seat away from transmission case has gone bad". There are Fixes ! If you do have a G14 then you do not have a "Dana" rearend. If you really want to change the 90 weight oil...... There is a drain lug at the bottum of the case to drain the oil out. There is a small bolt (12mm head) "I beleive on the passangerside" that is the "oil level" flow out hole. To refill... take the rubber oil vent hose out and put your new gear lube in till it "flows" out the "flow out hole" and your done. If for some reason you have a car with a "Dana" rearend......Follow NoNoNo's advise. Or better yet.......You could alway's get a "Crubcar" and follow all NoNoNo's advice ? Good luck Dave

I have seen G14s with the old style differential and some with the new. I think it's one of those "piecemeal" jobs as a transition to the G16. The flow out hole is a 10mm bolt on the old style.
The Club Car idea sounds great to me. |
