Adopted a Umax
Some of you may remember when all this started. Seemed an '06 Umax had been left for dead in the DFW area and was no longer wanted. Mainly because the engine seized up...... and it was really really ugly. I heard the call for help and made the long trip to the adoption agency in Rockwall to see what was up, it wasn't a pretty site....... How could someone have treated a baby that way?
But the adoption fee was low,so I took the chance that she could be rehabilitated, so we loaded it up, (twice, she's very big for her young age), and brought baby home. Before I could show her to anyone she had to have a bath though. Unfotunately, she had a bad heart. That's why she was no longer wanted. A transplant to a bigger one seemed in order to me, , but the new parents said no, we could save the old one, so we did. We kept the case, everything inside is new. She's grown up some now, about 6", so we had to do a little surgery to insure her new heart would keep pumping. She had some problems during her growth spurt, and she gonna need some adjustments to her braces to get the front straightened out. And she's still got a ways to go. She got some new shoes, but she still needs some nicer lookin clothes. And she's wants to play rough again, so some protection for her top and front are in order, this time. But she's come a long way. |

Re: Adopted a Umax
Yep, it's a 350. I wanted to BB it bad, but I got it for my Dad. It's gonna be a ranch vehicle, he's too old for the four wheelers so this is just the ticket for him.

Re: Adopted a Umax
I washed half of Oklahoma off her at the car wash. Took a bad hit to the cowel, the whole dash was moved right about 6 inches. But other than the motor, the mechanicals seemed in good shape. Gears were stripped on the cam and the crankshaft, never seen that before? It was just rode very hard in a rough neighborhood.

Re: Adopted a Umax
First thing I thought was bearings, but they were still free but of course replaced. Piston and cylinder looked OK, no obvious damage but I went .25 over to be safe. Chunks of teeth out in small areas of crank and cam gears.......had to have been a heck of jolt.
