Default clutch snapped 2 miles from house had to push and walk.

got our new engine friday well today i planned on breaking it in .well was about 2 or more miles from our house me and my brother.Heard a loud grinding snap sound.figured it was the crankshaft at first but have looking at it seems to be the clutch.had to push it around a curvy road and up and down hills for a mile then walked another mile to the house.probably get a comet clutch in a few months

That sucks! If you had a clubcar around it would have been easier to get back home.

man i didnt know that club car has aluminum frame i want one now.yeah i wonder if it would be cheaper to convert it to chain driven than getting a new clutch (259$) .

Get a new clutch. Converting to chain drive would be a lot of work. You'd have to swap out the rear axle and put in a transmission/rear axle so the gears wouldn't be fully engaged as soon as you hit the gas.

if you go to chain drive, you lose your trans. so depending on how you set it up you'll have no top speed or no low end torque speed. you'll like having a comet clutch. much better holeshots and it will let you idle a bit.

we just took it down there about 5 mins ago to cpp.Tom i guess he was tom he is the one who takes care of everything?.Anyways he said best case he can put used parts in it worst case we spend 260$ for a comet. This may sound bad but i hope we get the comet clutch.I told him that the rebuild job they did is superb.I think if you want a little extra power from your stock get a oversize piston and new valves.he installed the .25mm piston with new valves and it ran better than it did when we first got it.in fact they done everything to our cart lift kit ,custom paint ,custom seats.rims tires etc.its a dixie original lol.when i get her back in a few days ill post pics in the members ride section.i wish i could get him to adjust the govenor a tad bit but i figure he would advise against it
