Tires
It's time for new tires. I got the 16HP Engine in and running. I can't seem to drive more than 25 feet without having to get off and push the cart. My original golf cart tires aren't working at all, they are pretty much slicks. My question is..... I want to use the same rims and mount on some new rubber. I'm thinking about going from a 18 x 8 to a 21 x 9. Will my cart be able to move, or will I be bogging it too much with a 21" tire. Let me know what you think. The tire guy said they would be able to mount to my original rims, and I have the clearance on the cart for them, just am worried about bogging. I don't have a torque Sheave. But like I mentioned, it is a 16HP motor. Thanks for your help.

Re: Tires
IF your clutches are working properly, 16hp is enough to use 21 or 22 inch knobbies

Re: Tires
I agree with Scotty, go as big as you can. Why are you having to push it?

Yep, no problem with the bigger tires.

Re: Tires
I have to push it because I live in Michigan and there are still a couple inches of snow. And if you seen the tires I have on you'd understand why there is a lot of pushing going on.
Do any of you use the wheel spacers to get a little bit wider? I think I'm going to go with 21 inch with an agressive tread, that should do the trick. someone mentioned I'll be happy if my clutch is working properly.......... well it's doing great with the 18 inch tires, I just didn't know if it would still be okay with the 21 inch tires. Sounds like you all agree that it should be okay. |

Re: Tires
Wheel spacers work great. Consensus here is if you keep the steel wheels, use the solid spacers. The studs are OK for aluminum wheels.....
Either way be sure to check the lugs occasionally, especially after you first put them on..... |
