Default g16 frame ground

ok ok i know you can't ground anything to the frame on a yammy, but....

neibour has a nice g16 painted up like the 17 dewalt car, and had 2 weaker headlights and 2 taillights, grounded to the frame, cart ran fine no fuse blowing for years. now i helped him add 2 55 watt headlights to the top. forgot to run ground wire (dumb i know...) so we grounded them to the top supports and after a little driving the fuse whent like i thougt.
question: if i ground the other 2 head lights and tailights to the batt, will the 2 55 watt headlights be ok grounded to the frame? (mainly becouse its difficult to run another wire through the top supports, lazy i know lol) just wondering since he went 3-4 years with his other lights grounded on the frame.
thanks guys.

The 2 x 55w lights are going to pull almost 10 amps alone. The only way to stop the fuse from blowing is to raise the fuse rating and this is a very bad idea or run a separate ground to the battery. The cart fuse was rated at 10 amps for a reason .

If you put in a 20 amp it will not blow but the reason the fuse is there ( to protect the car wiring) is diminished.

I have been designing / wiring / fixing control systems for 20 years.

I'd like some feed back on the idea of bumping the main fuse to a 20 to 25 amp fuse. My local dealer told me just to bump the main fuse and the you could ground to the frame and there is no risk?

I did do that to one of my Yamis and never had any ill effect.

If you run a wire from the neg of the battery to the frame then you bypass the fuse totally. Not a good idea. Fuses are used for a reason.

You will not have an ill effect until something shorts on the cart. It is made to protect things.

It is your cart but I have had to clean up equipment when somebody decided to just up the fuse.
