Default Almost bypassing the GOV!! 30mph

OK, so I didnt want to permanently alter my Governor so here is what I did and I got 29mph on the road in front of my house. The governor still kicks in but at a higher Rev.

I noticed that the spring arm that attaches to the bolt was closer for less governor and further away for more governor. Meaning when you tighten the 10mm nut it draws the spring closer to the bracket arm. Fully tightened it is still an inch or so from the bracket.

* I removed the bolt and detached the spring from the end.
* Took the spring and put it into the bracket
* Replaced the bolt to hold the spring in the bracket.
* Thats it... Couldnt believe the difference. Gained 10mph...... and still have the Gov kicking in!

Default Almost bypassing the GOV!! 29mph, need thoughts

Keep in mind I have modified the cart quiet a bit but, it was 29 and down just a little little down grade, coming back up it hit a max 24. i put it on jack stands and put throttle to the floor and watched the gov work. it still kicks in and lowers the rpm but it takes approximately 3 seconds longer than with the max gov set screw setting. I actually redid all the work to test this!

I still plan to get a tach.... I wont push the girl until I get a tach on her, well then I still wont push her! Just want max performance with no issue to the engine.

Thanks guys!!

If you take her where shes never been before it will be
a great ride, but you can't be sure where or when you will come down.
Governors serve a purpose other than in Illinois.

Good idea to get the tach and keep it down until you do.
You have done the intake, exhaust and jet mod but that doesn't make the bottom end any stronger.
Be careful until you get your tach.

Keep us posted.

Thanks guys!

Is there a particular Tach that people are happy with? Do you have to purchase a pickup for the coil wire?

Thanks again!
