Engine life and more
Im just curious as to how long the engine life in a G1 .75mm over bore will last, as well should i put some sort of fan inside the clam shell to get better engine air flow or mount a fan on the side or back?

Re: Engine life and more
I can't tell you how long it will last. But I will say, I've seen G1's still running after 30 years. I would think the oiling would be the biggest concern. I'm still partial to the stock Yamaha oiling system. When it fails, your engine will be soon to follow, how often do they go bad...not very...but they can. Some like pre mixing there oil/gas for there "peice of mind", just not as acurate measuring of oil as the stock oil pump system. Don't think you'll need a fan, just keep all the stock plastic air shroulding and keep the flywheel side opening clear of any junk that could hinder cooling. Hope that helped alittle. Dave

Re: Engine life and more
Thanks dave. Yup i keep everything clean filters etc. Also i filled up my oil res and i mixed oil in gas but then i was told to do that as well, because its a new engine. But i would do that to my sleds by adding oil to the gas even though it was oil injected.

Re: Engine life and more
Any hour meter will work (12 volt type) useually 2 wires, one to ground, one to the solenoid lead that goes to the starter/generator (only reads when the solenoid is "energized" buy starting the cart with the accelerator pedal), I have seen some with a 3rd wire to the key switch, for reading hours run without the engine running.
