Nice cart. What do you mean by idle in? You have a throttle cable adjustment on the carb. and the pedal. You also have an adjustment screw on the carb. What is your cart doing or not doing? If its wide open as soon as you hit the pedal, more than likely someone rigged the throttle cable on the carb. all the way open.

Not easily done because it dosn't have a stall spring in the clutch, so you will have to use a different clutch. Also, the sling oil system on the Yamaha motor, does not oil well at idel.
I'm just regurgitating what the big guys on here have said.
Good luck! Mike

Are you wanting to keep the cart idling? Easiest way to do that is jump the 2 wires that are under the gas pedal. I don't recommend it though. I only do it that way when I'm trying to diagnose a problem on the cart. If you do decide to do it you have to turn the key off every time you shift from forward to reverse.

One day I thought about that, and figured if you built an arm with a brake pad to contact the secondary fixed sheave...you could pull that on to shift. If you really got fancy, put a solenoid of some kind on it and attach to a momentary switch on the shifter that would trip it in neutral.

If you get the motor to idle quite slow just above the starter, then clean and lube the clutch, it will sit still on grass. What you really need is a spring in the clutch, I figured that one out too but never tried it.

My G9 does idle fine, long as I sit there with my foot on the pedal. Sometimes I want to creep and have it keep running, like pulling something carefully or looking for mushrooms. Otherwise I would rather it shut off, why keep it running when it starts near instantly? You could also put a switch on the pedal, to short it when you needed to keep it running, but it will be hard on the belt if it is dragging.
