Default Newb Need Help PLEASE!!!!!

I have had to rewire some things in my yamaha g-16. The previous owner didnt know anything. I have installed car stereo's for 15 years and know a little about wiring up a 12 volt system. The guy who owned it prior to me has a wire going from the chassis to the neg. post. I was taught to never do this. I did'nt understand why he did it but when I called him he said that one day everything he had grounded to the chassis stopped being grounded. I went out and disconnected the cable he had from the battery to the chassis and then used my tester to see what would happen. I hooked one end of my tester light to the positive side of the battery and touched the other side to the chassis, every nut and bolt I could reach and even scraped away the paint to check. Si I then drilled a small hole in the frame and still nothing. So I touched it to the neg post and it lit up like it should. Since I got it the wiring has been screwed. So I got a grounding block and ran it from the neg post and a 14 slot fuse panel and ran it from the other side of the ignition switch so everything would work only when the key is on. Some of the turn signals are grounded to the chassis and so is a couple of other things. The only way I can get them to work is to hook back up the wire the guy had going from the neg post to the frame. But know when I put on my turn signals the radio skips and the head lights blink and now the running lights and brake lights dont work .This is my nightmare. I know what I am doing but this whole ground thing is messing me up. Please help!!!!!!!!

OK..

These carts fuse the neg from the battery going to the frame. The fuse in in the black box behind the battery. If this fuse blows the cart will not run. (this is what happened to him and he replaced it with a wire) Check and replace fuse. I think it is a 10 A. Now it is a bad idea to ground accessories to the frame. Run a wire back to the neg of the battery and fuse the +12 side for your accessories. Never ground to the frame. Run your fuse block stuff through a relay to save the contacts on the key switch.

Guess I should read the section--ok yes I would run all grounds to the battery or your ground block hooked to neg on the battery, and a ground strap, from the motor to the neg on the battery, it's just not go to use the frame for a ground better to go to the battery--
