Where do I hook my new light kit wiring into the golf cart so that when I turn off the key to the cart the power is off to the lights? thanks

Re: Light kit install
You can use the keyed ignition wire to trigger a relay that will operate the lights. I would install a switch inline on that wire as well. This would enable you to turn the light kit on or off, but only when the key is in the on position (if that is what you want). By using a relay you aren't going to overload that ignition wire or possibly blow a fuse.

Re: Light kit install
I understand that is one way that it can be done. But is that the way that it comes from the factory when its ordered. and yes I do want the key to be on for the lights to work.

Re: Light kit install
Not much is "factory" on my cart anymore so I can't comment on that lol. Maybe one of the vendors will chime in here.

Re: Light kit install
To use the key switch you will need to put in a relay so that your not pulling current from the key switch. I don't think the factory kits are tied into the key switch, but Smallblock could tell us. Are you wanting the lights to come on with key switch or you going to use another switch that will only work when the key is on?

Re: Light kit install
Yes thats what I want. I am going to use another switch that I only want to work when the key is on. The kit I bought has a relay on it already.

Re: Light kit install
Only Umax/Adventure models of Yami's use a 3 way ignition switch for the lites. I do ask myself, why do you want it hooked to the key switch? We run all lite kits we install directly to the battery (positive and negative). Good luck on your project
