Default help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my K&N and jet kit just came in today. i took off the stock round type filter box and replaced it with the K&N then took the bowl off the bottom of carb and changed main jet. i went to fire it up and it will only give me about half trottle then boggs bad. i hit the choke and gave it gas and it runs like a bat out of h#ll. what gives? i tried adjusting fuel air and no go.

When you changed the jet, did you clean the bowl, float and surrounding area?
Could have a piece of debris blocking the jet. Just a thought.

i am using the g-16 jet kit for lifted carts on my g-14 which tom says works along with the K&N.. I went from having a perfectly good cart to a cart that will barely go with the pedal 1/4 way down..ill take the bowl back off and try cleaning it again..

One tiny piece of crap in the bowl can cause lots of problems. That setup should work.

I trust Tom....Did you tell him it was a G-14 (your car is more simular to a G2/G9/G8, alittle differant than a G16. If all checks out with Tom for the correct parts....I would think the "plastic" intake manifold got "cracked" or the gasket between the manifold and cylinder head is bad. There are only 2 adjustments to thes carbs....pilot adjustment screw (Must have a very sharp point!) Turn in till "lightley seated" then back off 1 1/2 turns. Throttle stop screw.....(throttle shaft must close all the way!) turn the screw in till it touches the throttle shaft, then 1/4 turn more. I'd really like to know how this one turns out. Later Dave

dave from what i hear tom is one of the best. i contacted him through here and he told me g16.. im with you i asked him if it was the same as g9. i never messed with the intake manifold unless some how when i was tring to take the snorkle off the carb it cracked without knowledge. there are 3 screws one that has a few holes in it with a blunt flat end when its pulled out (gas/air)? one with spring that goes into the carb and one with a spring that hits the arm on top by the throttle cable. i have no idea what im doing

There really isn't 3 screws. The one that doesn't have a spring is the "pilot" jet. (not adjustable). The one that has a spring and screwas into the carb is the "pilot" adjustment screw (air mixture) MUST HAVE A SHARP POINT, turn in till lightly seated...then 1 1/2 turns out. You could "play with this adjustment (in 1/4 turn adjustments to see how your upgrades react). The one that hits the trottle shaft (the throttle stop screw)...make shure your throttle shaft is closed all the way! and turn the screw til it touchs the shaft arm and 1/4 turn more. Hope this better expains the situation. Later Dave
