Default Looking for someone who owns a G14 gas yamaha

Wanting to start correspondence with someone who owns a 1995 or 1996 G14 Yamaha gas golf cart. I rebuilt the motor completely and tried to start it and had no spark. Great compression and gas. Pulsar coil checked out good (350 ohms between b/w and r/w wires. No continuity to ground and no breaks in wires. Checked my wire hookups against wire diagram and all looks well. Replaces ignition coil and still no luck. Will someone get with me and please send pics of ignition system. Maybe give me notes on what readings should be on ignitor and such so I can confirm what parts I need to order. Thanks, Chuck

Red face Re: Looking for someone who owns a G14 gas yamaha

Think I may have figured out my problem. I'm not getting voltage to either the b/w or r/w wire out of the ignitor box when the engine is cranking. Does this sound right to anyone? Just wanna be sure before I shell out a tidy sum of money for a new ignitor unit. Thanks,
Chuck

Talking Re: Looking for someone who owns a G14 gas yamaha

Btw, I'm getting voltage to the brown wire coming into the ignitor but no other wires are hot. I'm not totally sure if this is ok or not. Lookin for someone to help me confirm if the ignitor is bad or not. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies (other than myself) hehe

There is no test for an ignitor. You can test the ignition coil, if it tests good, then it is usually the ignitor that is bad. Or the crank senser (what ever they call it).

Thanks Mike,

I found a webpage that details the repair of ignitors. Gonna try my hand at it. Figure I got nothing to lose since I'm gonna buy a new ignitor anyway. BTW if there is anyone out there with a (working) spare ignitor I would like to buy it for a reasonable used price. Shoot me an email with any questions.

Thanks again,
Chuck

Angry Re: Looking for someone who owns a G14 gas yamaha

Well I tried and was thwarted by a mass of rubber inside ignitor module. Carefully removed all sides to casing. Found circuit board is totally encased in some type of rubber material. Oh well at least I gave it a good go! Off to buy a new ignitor next week unless I run across one used for a reasonable price.
