Default Should I buy?

I have listed a listing on our local craigslist for a non running or with out a motor yamaha cart. I had a email shot to me thismorning. They guy says its a 92 and needs a clutch and a coil. I was going to do a honda conversion for a summer project. Kinda like the "cheap cart fart" thread.

He told me that it trys and turns over, he said the seriel# starts with "JN3", He began to tell me that he thought that was the model type. I'm unsure. Thats why i'm asking you guys. He said the shape of the cart was fine and didnt use it anymore because of the coil and clutch.

He told me he wanted $200 for it. With out pictures and which model it is, Would you guys say that would be a deal?

Ryan.

How far away is the cart? Can you go and look at it?
If it has all the parts and looks good I dont think it would be a bad deal, but you could offer less to start with.

If the serial # starts with JN3 It is a g14. Like HWM's (see his pix's). Altough this was not one of my favorite Yamaha models...It has the newer style "frame/body parts", so many aftermarket parts are available. If you were deciding on a Honda or Briggs engine swap, this would be a solid platform. I feel that 200.00 for a newer yamaha (in any condition is better than people spending the same for an old Harley. Just my opinion. Sound's like another "build" is keeping you up at night. Later Dave

Here's the story. 1st off I talked with the guy today around lunch time. He said, If you want it come and get it. I will let it go for $150 flat. I said alright I'll be there around 6:30. My wife, little girl and myself had to go to charleston for some other things. So I got to his house and it was a G14. It turned over and sounded fine. The body was rough, Frame was good, bad pans. I said to myself sure this is worth $150 and told him let me get the money out the truck. I went to hand him the money, Sure enough he said I changed my mind after we spoke earlier and I want $200 now. I just paused for a minute, kept my cool. he said the windshield is worth $90 and the tires or worth $50 so I gotta get atleast $200 for it. I traveled 45 minutes there and he tried to play me. I loved it when people try other people. I said well I think i'll just sleep on it acouple nights. He said thats a travel for nothing, I said tell me about it.

We leave to go back down to do some other things. He calls back and sayes well I'll take $175 for it. I told him no thanks, He got mad.

You know guys, I would have gave the guy $200 for it, If he would have said $200 from the get go. Oh well someone else can get shafted. I dont do people that way, So no matter the distance, I didnt take it.

Well I still have the listing open on craigslist for the local area.

Ryan.

Unfortunately, that's the way it is with alot of people on Craigslist. You never know who you're going to have to deal with. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

That is illegal, a verbal contract is legal and binding, by saying he would let it go over the phone for $150 he cancled out the previous offer and replaced it for a new one, when you said yes it sealed the deal. there are five main elements to make a contract legal, they must have capasity to contract (leagal age) there must be consideration (money) there must be offer and acceptance there must be genuine intent (putting the add on craigs list) and there must be legality of objects (if its about drugs its not a go) since its a golf cart there is no problem here. This stuff is my every day job. That guy can't legaly do that . . .but since it is over such a little amount not worth enforcing this (cost would exceed the cost of the item) but i always remind people of this when they try it on me and it works every time!! something to keep in mind.
