G16 tie rods
My g16 tie rods need replaced as do the king pins and bushings.
I guess there is not be feat to do this but when I went to buy the rod ends (Online) they show a picture of a rod end with female threads. I checked and mine are male threaded. I asked the parts dealer and never got a response. So have mine been changed with something else or do they use 2 types? Ron |

Re: G16 tie rods
I have only seen female threads on Yamaha. Someone must have changed them.

Re: G16 tie rods
My G8, tie rod ends-male. Tie rods, themselves-female.

Thanks for the link Ron, Mine are just the oppsite of that. Do you think there were an early model G16 and later?

Re: G16 tie rods
Ron, are you sure your tie rod ends are bad. They have so little weight on them, they should last forever, unless they are bent or something. Mine are 19yrs. old and they are still tight.

Re: G16 tie rods
Thanks for the data sheet.
Yes the drivers side are worn out as are the kinpins and bushings. The nuts are tight thru the pitman and steering arm but the tie rod ball socket has enough play that it looks like they could almost fall out. Passenger side seems good , and both sides have male threads. The tie rod ends screws into a female ( hollow threaded tube). I will get a picture tomorrow. even possibly of the slack. Ron Ron |
