1997 G16A Valve Settings
I am trying to get my G16 back running. What are the valve settings? I have the stock engine. Also, trying to rebuild the carb, the number on the carb is JN610 0772. This number does not show up on the parts list on LVS sales. Anybody have any idea which rebuild kit I need?

Can't help you with the carb. other than take it all apart and clean it out. But the valves are .004 cold. When I did my valves there was quite a jump in performance after.

Any chance my valves not being set properly may have caused poor low end performance on my cart? My cart was all or nothing. Wide open or stopped, there was no in between.

Wehn checking valve clearance, is it the same way as a car? For example, slowly turning the engine to allow the rcker arms to have the full amount of slack?

Re: 1997 G16A Valve Settings
ya Mike, you want the piston to be at "top dead center" on the compression stroke. Watch the intake valve/rocker close as you turn the crank with plug out and thumb over the plug hole to feel compression. Then get the piston up to the top, stop and adjust both valves at .004 (snug fit on the feeler gage). roll the crank over a couple revolutions again to TDC and check again, if it is good then your done!!...Un less you have another cylinder to do.

Thanks, that's the way that I know to adjust just about any engine, but I wanted to make sure.
