Default G16 Carburator Joint Spacer

I was ordering parts online to rebuild my carb and realized that I may not have a carburator joint spacer. Will the cart run without it? What kind of problems would it cause if I didn't have one? I am trying to figure out it this was my problem the whole time.

i also think you'll need it, carb sealing, prerformance, and heat transfer to the carb all might be why they have it?

Can't remember if it was it the G14 or 16 but I don't think the carb will bolt to the engine block without the spacer.
Wrong bolt pattern so the spacer/insulator is needed.

It would not work without the spacer, the carb couldn't even mate up with the cylinder. There are 3 carb gaskets, and they need to be there also.
