Default Sythetic Oil?

I just purchased a 1997 G16A. I live in Wisconsin, and would like to use synthetic oil because of colder temperatures. Using conventional oil, it starts harder because it turns over so slowly when it's cold.

Is synthetic oil ok for this motor?

Thanks
