White Rodgers Solenoid for G1
I ordered a replacement solenoid from Everything Carts and installed it in my 82 G1. As soon as I hooked the battery up it started turning the engine over. Is there a difference in these that I need to be aware of?
I unhooked F1 from the starter and hooked the battery back up to prevent it from starting. The solenoid clicks when I hit the gas pedal as it should.....also doesn't matter in which position the key is in when I hook up the battery it still turns over in forward. Any help appreciated. |

This photo may help. The big red wire actually goes to the - terminal of the battery.

Re: White Rodgers Solenoid for G1
The '0" stamped on the case of this WHITE-ROGERS/RBM solenoid, designates the circuit 'OPEN" end. When installing this solenoid next to an original Yamaha solenoid on a 1982 & G1 car, this solenoid should face the OPPOSITE way of the Yamaha solenoid, so that both OPEN ends are side by side....in other words, FLIP the solenoid over.

Re: White Rodgers Solenoid for G1
You explained fine, I just remembered both "open" ends have to go together. Right now he has the New WR solenoid "open" to the top while the old one is at the bottom. Flip the new one, do some wiring and its golden.

Wish he would have seen your "solenoid's for sale add" he could have got a great deal, and you'd have a couple of buck's in your wallet. I look at "for sale" thread all the time, you just don't know what you'll find.

Re: White Rodgers Solenoid for G1
So I am going to wire two new solenoids. Does anyone have a picture or diagram I can go by. I tried today but I don’t have the patience for wiring. And thinking it though. Haha. It’s a 1982 g1. I bought two of the white Rodgers 6 post
