Default Clean and Polish?

I just bought a 1997 G16A. The guy that had it before put some stickers on it, like bumper stickers. I've removed them and find that enough of the gelcoat has faded that the outline of the stickers remains.

What's the best thing to use to brighten up the entire body of the cart and blend these oulines in? Rubbing compound? Cleaning compound? I'd appreciate help

Thanks!

Is this cart painted or just the factory white?

On my G9, I have sanded out scratches starting 400 grit working up to 800 grit then finishing with ultra fine scotch brite.

Ive heard of this stuff working pretty good. Its almost like a wax but for plastic. I havent used it personally, but my friend used this stuff on his 4wheeler body and it helps keep the mud and stuff off I think it would work good on the golf cart body...

You try any laquer thinner? We clean stock bodies and even seats with that stuff all the time. If you care about the finish, hold off on the 400 paper and scotch brite pads! Try some 2000, then buff it out - if the thinner won't do it for you

I have done bodywork and painting for many many years. I removed scratches on my cart every bit of .030” deep and the finish on my cart is very good. I would NEVER tell anyone anything that would cause them or their cart harm.

WOW - My advice is to simply start with something less abrasive! We're talking about faded paint around stickers, not scratches and damage. 400 grit is what I use to prepare bodies for painting, not stain removal. Try laquer thinner first, if that doesn't work go to wet / dry sand paper. 2000 grit will be light enough to hand buff with compound. 400 / 800 or scotch brite will remove the protective finish.

Actually your car is painted, with a clearcoat. Treat it like you would a car. You could "wet sand with 2000 wet/dry sand paper" and "buff" it out. I hear "Claybar" work like sandpaper. It is always a "hit or miss" propsition when we take decals/stickers/logos off cars. Sometimes we use "Goofoff" to get rid of the glue left behind. Sounds like your more interested in "restoring" the paint finish. Good luck and keep us posted. PS -Newguy I have to agree with Mike on this one. Your body is polypropalin and I do as you said to get the inperfections out...you just don't have a "shine/luster anymore. With the later body's being paint...you have to look at it differantly.
