Lightbulb When lights on radio shuts off?

Hello every one i have been looking at this forum for quite some time now as a private user so now I'm registered and have a few questions for the experts please :). I have a 99 Yamaha gas cart and i installed 4 lights, two tail lights and a radio. Now the problem is i cant have my low beams witch are wired into my tail lights and my radio on at the same time the radio will shut off but the lights will remain on. but i can have my high beams and my radio on. the battery is fully charged. I'm thinking i need a battery with more cold cranking amps or just a "stronger battery"? what do you think? it also does this if the cart is running. so either way i can have tunes or lights but not both lol :( help please :)

I would look at the neutral path
of both the low beams and the radio.

It sounds like the radio and the lights are pulling from the same wire set.The reason the radio shuts down is because its looking for no less that 11.5 volts and im guessint the gauge of the wire being used for supply will not carry enough power for both units to be running. So either get a bigger power wire or run another and your problem will be fixed. welcome to the site!

Also DO NOT use the frame of the card as the ground. Run a wire back to the battery neg terminal.

That's correct. If you ground to the chassis it will blow the main fuse. I ran a 14ga wire back to the (-) battery and put a terminal block for grounding up in the dash
As a rule I use no less than 14ga. Some of the neighbors use 16 with no issues.

Wiring a radio 16ga is fine.
Lights I would recommend 12 ga.
You can wire the ground to the frame IF the battery is properly grounded to the frame. I however prefer a separate ground wire. Take all grounds to a ground buss and the positive leads must be fused between the battery and the switch. A fuse panel is best.

I HAD MY LIGHTS GROUNDED TO THE FRAME AND IF I TURNED THE LIGHTS ON IT WOULD ROLL MY STARTER OVER WHEN MY KEY WAS OFF. I FIXED IT AND WENT DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY.
