Well here it is. Don't know where I'm going with it yet but it looks like the motor needs OH or maybe replace?? We'll see what happens.

Re: G1 New Project Pics.
As for a post you had. Your 2 cycle should have a compression reading (at wide open throttle) of 120 lbs (new) to 100Lbs minimum. You need 2 things, Ring compression and Crankcase pressure. If you rebuild the top end...I would suggest new cranks seals also. Later Dave

Re: G1 New Project Pics.
Thanks for the specs and suggestions. Are the parts readeally available for this engine, jug, piston, rings etc.?
Never worked on this type of engine before but I've OH everything from a 635cc Rotax in my old Argo to a 16V 92 Detroit. It all just nuts and bolts. Speaking of the Rotax, I'll bet I could fab a Rotax 440 into this thing and it would run like a bat outa hell! Something to think about I guess. I'll keep the board posted. BTW, compression cold was 75PSI hot 65. |

Re: G1 New Project Pics.
I just bought a G1 with a 440rotax. Not running, but it turns over ok. There wasn't a belt on it and it looks like the clutch and rear don't line up perfect. I will get some pictures of it. It also came with an extra G2 rear end.
Trophyman, How do you pick the right belt after swapping in a motor? I've worked on cars and trucks before, but am new to the golf cart thing. I appreciate any help I can get. |

Re: G1 New Project Pics.
turquoisterror,
I never put that Rotax engine in the G1, I bought another cart, a G2 so the G1 in on the back burner. My guess would be that whomever did the engine swap did not take the proper measurements when he fab'ed his mounts. That would be the first place to look, AFTER you find out if the engine will turn over. How much did you have to give for the cart if you don't mind me asking. |

Re: G1 New Project Pics.
I paid 600 for the G1 cart with the 440rotax in it and everything else stock and in good condition. Also included was a G2 complete rear end and an 18 horse 1970's ish horizontal shaft engine (probably a briggs). Both motors rotate well by hand. The rotax doesn't suck on your hand if you cover the carb... I think it may need work.
